Konecranes selected zepp.solutions to deliver a hydrogen fuel cell system to decarbonize heavy load port operations. The power module is built around the zepp.solutions X150 fuel cell system and is integrated into the redesigned D200 platform to power the Konecranes Noell Straddle Carrier. The vehicle is currently deployed in live terminal operations for Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG at the Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg.
In this project, the hydrogen-powered straddle carrier is deployed to demonstrate hydrogen drive systems as alternative to diesel for heavy-load operations. The vehicle can be refilled within 10 to 20 minutes. This preserves familiar operational workflows while bypassing the grid constraints and long charging times associated with battery electric equipment.
By using the zepp.solutions hydrogen technology, Konecranes and HHLA are taking a leading role in sustainable port operations in activities that require high uptime and cannot rely on full electrification.
Thanks to the hydrogen fuel cell system, the terminal achieves zero tailpipe emissions and supports its long-term sustainability goals while maintaining maximum productivity.
