Are hydrogen fuel cell gensets safe for urban deployment?
Absolutely. Safety is the foundational principle of our engineering process. Just like for any other type of powered equipment, whether it’s diesel or hydrogen-powered, there are strict safety guidelines that must be followed to obtain the certification required to sell and use these machines. The zepp.generator is fully CE certified and fulfils the most stringent European safety standards and norms. This makes it perfectly suited for densely populated urban environments, public events and sensitive construction zones.
We use a holistic safety concept that actively protects the site, the operators and the equipment. This includes electrical safety, explosion protection, fire detection, and alarming.
How do I get fuel to the site?
Managing fuel logistics for hydrogen-powered generator sets is straightforward. The zepp.generator is fully compatible with standard industrial gas supply chains, meaning you can rely on existing networks rather than reinvent your operations.
Depending on your specific power requirements, a variety of storage solutions is available:
- Cylinder bundles: Ideal for smaller projects or moderate daily energy demands.
- 20/40 foot MEGC systems: A highly versatile storage solution for heavy power needs. Newer systems can contain 1000+ kg of hydrogen.
- 13.6 meter tube trailers: Designed for multi-MWh capacity ensuring continuous uninterrupted operations for highly demanding sites.
You do not need to manage the refueling process yourself. Established industrial gas suppliers will deliver the hydrogen directly to your location and securely hook the trailers or bundles up to your generator set, ensuring your operations never run out of power.
Does the system require complex installation?
No. We designed the zepp.generator to be the a standalone plug-and-play solution. You can completely bypass the long wait times and complex site preparations associated with grid connections.
- Standardized for easy transportation and quick deployment: The entire system is housed in a robust standard 10-foot or 20-foot ISO container, depending on the power output you need. These containers feature forklift pockets and twistlock corners.
- Autonomous functionality: Once delivered and connected to the fuel supply, the generator can operate autonomously. Its internal energy management system controls fuel cell and battery strategy to your specific load demands without requiring manual oversight.
