Hydrogen GPU tests kicked off at Schiphol

Schiphol is conducting tests with the first hydrogen-powered GPU at the airport. The unit in question is the H2-GPU, a hydrogen-powered Ground Power Unit (GPU) that supplies stationary aircraft at the gate with power, for example for lighting and power in the cockpit. Schiphol is the first airport in the world to have a working H2-GPU and allow it in operations.The H2-GPU was developed by zepp.solutions in collaboration with Dynell, an Austrian GPU manufacturer.

Progress in H2GPU construction

The assembly of the H2GPU by Dynell GmbH is taking shape. This hydrogen-powered generator set for stationary aircraft features a zepp.solutions 50kW Y50 fuel cell system. Zepp also developed the hydrogen storage system storing 16.8 kg of hydrogen. Combined with the 84 kWh onboard battery, the GPU can deliver up to 350 kWh of electrical energy.
